Plessey UK Magnetic Payphone Cards

Payphone cards produced by Plessey in the UK were used in trials around the world including in Mexico, Great Britain, Brazil, Bahrain and Finland and showcased at Conferences and Exhibitions in the late Eighties.

The payphone cards pictured below were issued by Plessey UK and were used at trials, conferences and exhibitions in the UK and elsewhere to showcase the companies magnetic card technology.

While fairly large quantities of Plessey promotional and trial cards were printed, very few of them were actually encoded. Cards that were encoded contained 1000 units of £0.10p per unit, making them £100 cards, although Plessey Payphone cards were never placed on sale to the general public to use within payphones.
